Please join us for the Cherokee History and Culture Institute July 11-15, 2016. The goal of the Institute is to provide accurate information about the Cherokees (and other American Indians,) resources, and to provide connections with Cherokee people. We will read and discuss articles from a variety of disciplines. Interviews, field trips, and experiences on the Qualla Boundary, home of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, will be integrated with academic study.  Info and Registration Form here. 

What:             5 days on Cherokee archaeology, history, folklore, literature, geography and anthropology

Where:          Museum of the Cherokee Indian, Kituhwa Mound, Nikwasi Mound,  Junaluska Gravesite, Oconaluftee Indian Village, Unto These Hills

Who:              Taught by Barbara Duncan, Ph.D., Education Director, with help from Cherokee presenters: storyteller, dancers, potter

Open to: educators of all kinds and the public

How Much:  General public: $500

Museum members at “Friend”level and higher 20% discount = $400
