A member of the Wolf Clan, Nancy Pheasant (Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians) is an accomplished multimedia artist specializing in shell carving, jewelry, and fabric work. After retiring from a career as a North Carolina emergency medical paramedic, Nancy began dedicating herself to preserving the traditional artform of shell carving and has studied with the internationally renowned shell carver Dan Townsend. Her own pieces, including museum-quality replica gorgets, have won numerous awards and ribbons, and she stays busy designing and sewing ribbon-adorned clothing for community members. She currently lives in the Wolftown Community of Cherokee, North Carolina.
