Research Inquiries

The Archives is open by appointment, Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm.  The Museum and the Archives are closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas, and New Year’s Day.

Museum members, qualified scholars, tribal members, and the public may conduct research free of charge. Please make an appointment at least a week in advance with Manager of Collections Cammie Bello at cammie.bello@mci.org. You may search our archival database online at: Museum Online Archival Catalog.

Note: If you are conducting a research project with members of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, or doing research located on land belonging to the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, you must submit a proposal to an internal review board.   The proposal includes a questionnaire and processing fee, and must be approved by the internal review committee and the Tribal Council of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.  If your project is a master’s thesis, dissertation, book, article, film, media production, or any research project, these guidelines apply.  If your project is a college or high school paper, some requirements may be waived.  Contact the Cultural Institutional Review Board (CIRB), Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, P.O.
